Saturday Monster Challenge is a weekly challenge on Linked In, whereby a group of AI enthusiasts create a monster image based on a weekly theme.
The challenge provides an opportunity to explore genAI in creative ways and offers the freedom to explore AI generation processes and generative styles against a set theme.

Desert Monsters
I wanted to explore filmic, cinematic styles inspired by Dune for this Desert Monster challenge. Images generated in MidJourney.
Light Monsters
I wanted to explore using genAi for animated characters with a lighter tone and was also keen to explore character consistency by having the same character in different situations. In the Light Monsters challenge, I generated a before and after image of a monster chewing a light bulb, then took the images into Luma Dream Machine to generate a short animation sequence.
The final sequence was made up of several videos cut together in Capcut with some additional effects. The audio was also AI generated from Udio.
Cloud Monsters
I was keen to explore some more illustrative styles for the Cloud Monster challenge, lightly inspired by the style of Studio Ghibli and Dr Seuss. Images generated in Midjourney.
Sailor Monsters
For the Sailor Monster challenge, I wanted to try different camera angles and depth of field, using the concept of a small monster in a bathtub that feels like an ocean. Image generated in Midjourney.
